When I made the move from the public health sector to working full time in construction, I was often told that there was 'no room for social work in construction'. How wrong that statement was! At KR Group, we have developed a rather unique but strikingly effective skill mix in our leadership team, blending technical knowledge and expertise with outstanding values and integrity. I am responsible for the marketing of our business and the care and development of our staff team. I am proud that we have progressive team who have a positive attitude towards life long learning and place the customer, alongside environmental regard, at the heart of every project.
Fundamentally, I love working, challenges and people in equal measure. My professional life has been diverse - from the children's home, the therapy room, and to the construction site - and I have loved it all. I have embraced the challenges of working in this sector and advocate for the high level of skill and workmanship that is evident in every workshop and building site I have been on. I believe that solutions can be found to every problem and communication and partnership lies at the heart of this.
I am connected to the Developing Young Workforce team and get involved in working with supporting young people in schools, colleges and university as much as I can. I am an ambassador for construction and attend careers fairs and offer a range of opportunities for learning through work experience and internships. My passion for connecting with young people and promoting the industry is never ending. I am ambitious in our plans for increasing apprenticeships and new initiatives in our business.
I have a deep sense of empathy for others and a determination for purpose and progress. Some might say that I have restless personality and I might concede this to be true but it is the force that drives me forward and keeps everything new and fresh. I am fortunate to love my job and if you engage with me and my business, you will experience this first hand. We love to do a good job, for the right reasons.
When I'm not working, I can usually be found hanging out in my busy family of 6; walking the dogs on the beach; having some downtime with my friends or very occasionally, heading off for a run.
