Cristina Fuentes La Roche is director of Hay Festival International, an annual celebration of literature that takes place in numerous places around the world. In 2019, at the opening of Peru’s Hay Festival Arequipa, she was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire. Fuentes La Roche was recognized for her work in developing educational and cultural programming and services in Latin American markets. Appointed in 2005, she has overseen more than 100 events on five continents as the Hay Festival has steadily expanded its network of international editions.
