Markham McKnight

Markham McKnight has served as president of BXS Insurance, formerly BancorpSouth Insurance Services, since 2005. Previously, he was the president of Baton Rouge-based insurance brokerage firm, Wright & Percy Insurance and oversaw BancorpSouth’s acquisition of the firm in 2003. Consistently listed among the nation’s largest, bank-owned brokerage firms and the nation’s largest brokerage firms overall, BXS Insurance operates globally with 31 offices in eight states.
McKnight is past chairman of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) and serves as chairman of CIAB’s charitable educational organization, the Council Foundation. He is also past chairman of the Worldwide Broker Network—the leading international independent broker network representing more than 120 countries—and a board member and the treasurer of the Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association, a position that the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner appoints. He sits on the board of the Institutes, the leading provider of risk management and property and casualty insurance education, as well.
Additionally, McKnight is a board member of the National World War II Museum Board of Trustees, a member of the Chief Executives Organization, and a member of the World Presidents’ Organization.
A native of Clinton, Louisiana, McKnight earned his bachelor’s and master’s from Louisiana State University (LSU).
