Aine Lyons
CLOC Board Member & Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Worldwide Legal Operations at VMWare
Aine Lyons is VMware’s Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Global Legal Operations and Privacy and Chief of Staff to VMware’s General Counsel. She is responsible for driving operational excellence through scalable innovation. Aine joined VMware in 2007, initially in senior roles, including leading the EMEA legal team, and founded the legal operations team in 2011.
Her efforts have resulted in Aine being named Financial Times “Legal Intrapreneur of the Year” in 2019 and departmental industry recognition as winners of the 2020 ACC Value Champion, 2019 IACCM Innovation & Excellence Award for “Operational Improvement”, 2018 Financial Times Intelligent Business Winner in “Contracting”, 2016 Financial Times “Most Innovative In-House Legal Team” and 2015 ACC Value Champion. Aine is also a thought leader in the legal operations field: a founder’s 50 member of the Corporate Legal Operations Institute (CLOC) in North America and Europe Lead, and a regular speaker on operational topics.
Aine serves on the global VMinclusion Council, setting diversity and inclusion strategy for VMware, and, she earned the CEO’s EPIC2 Achievement Award for these efforts. Prior to joining VMware, Aine worked in private practice and then in house as EMEA Legal Counsel at Siebel Systems’ (now Oracle) and as EMEA General Counsel of the APC-MGE a division of the Schneider Group.
