Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie is the author of 14 novels, including “Midnight’s Children,” “The Satanic Verses,” “The Moor’s Last Sigh” and “Quichotte” (Random House), his latest. He has also penned a book of stories and works of nonfiction. His books have been translated into more than 40 languages. A Fellow of the British Royal Society of Literature, Rushdie has received, among other honors, the Whitbread Prize for Best Novel (twice), the Writers’ Guild Award, the James Tait Black Prize, the London International Writers’ Award, the James Joyce Award of University College Dublin and a U.S. National Arts Award. He has also received the Edgerton Prize of the American Civil Liberties Union and holds the rank of Commandeur in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres—France’s highest artistic honor.
