2nd Annual Membership & Marketing Virtual Event Series
All Shriners and members of Masonic organizations can attend. Offered as a four-part virtual event, each event focuses on delivering key concepts in membership and marketing that equips students to attend the immersive in-person conference in March.

Completion of this series is required to achieve Apprentice Certificate and Master Certificate. (Master must complete in-person conference in addition to virtual event series.)

    In our first Virtual Event, Membership will guide you through planning your events and avoiding pitfalls and Marketing will follow with best practices for using Social Media effectively.

    Your Event Survival Guide Part I: Planning
    Events help to provide membership value, visibility, and fundraising for your organization. In this part of the survival guide, we will discuss general planning do's and don'ts and common pitfalls in event planning.

    Learning Objectives:
    1. Identify why events are so important for your organization
    2. Identify key concepts and considerations for planning a successful event
    3. Learn about some common pitfalls/misconceptions in event planning and how to avoid them.

    Social Media in an Age of Division
    This course will explain how to identify and neutralize potentially negative activities on your social media channels and leverage social media to engage your members and advance your organization’s mission.

    Learning Objectives:
    1. Demonstrate how to positively navigate social media in a culturally divided time.
    2. Explain the liabilities to an organization of engaging in divisive rhetoric.
    3. Apply social media usage and engagement as an organizational reflection of mission
    and purpose.

    Volunteer Management - "If you have to ask how much they cost, you can't afford them."

    Temple leaders – from the Divan to Committee members – are all volunteers who have a vested emotional and fraternal interest in the success of the Shrine. They are “stakeholders”, and are the number one asset of the organization. Without them, we cannot do business. So, learning the fine art of volunteer recruitment, programming, and guidance could very well be the number one lesson of the decade.
