N. K. Jemisin is a New York Times bestselling author of “speculative fiction” short stories and novels. In 2018, she became the first author to win three consecutive Hugo Awards for Best Novel for her Broken Earth trilogy. She has also received a Nebula Award, two Locus Awards and a number of other honors. Her fiction has been published in Clarkesworld, Tor.com, Wire and Popular Science, among other publications. In addition to writing, Jemisin has been a counseling psychologist and an educator (specializing in career counseling and student development), a hiker, a biker and a political/feminist/antiracist blogger. Although she no longer pens The New York Times Book Review science fiction column “Otherworldly” (which she covered for three years), her reviews can still be found online. Jemisin’s new book is “The City We Became” (Orbit).
