SAME Environmental COI Webinar: Assessment and Inspection Process for Sites with General Radioactive Materials

About This Webinar

A framework has been recently developed which provides a standardized approach in conducting a Preliminary Assessment (PA) and Site Inspection (SI) for sites with a known presence or potential presence of General-Radioactive Materials (G-RAM).

This webinar will provide an overview of the new framework and will highlight key differences from other impacted sites addressed under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA). This approach is consistent with the requirements of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of the Navy (DON), and other appropriate state and local regulations; also consistent with the Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM) and the Radiological Site Management Toolkit for Navy Installations for surveying and sampling at radiological sites.

The webinar will focus on conducting a Preliminary Assessment and Site Inspection for sites with a known presence of potential for General Radioactive Materials (G-RAM) and includes radiation basics, identification of G-RAM, and techniques for evaluation of G-RAM in various environmental media.
