Offsite Solar Project Complements Penn State’s GHG Emission Reduction Efforts

About This Webinar

Penn State is a large, complex, and nationally recognized research university. Spread across 24 campuses in Pennsylvania, Penn State is “One University, Geographically Dispersed”. Penn State has been working to responsibly de-carbonize its operational footprint through investments in cost effective and tuition neutral strategies to reduce GHG emissions from energy use in our buildings, the operation of our utility systems, and energy sourcing. This presentation will provide information about Penn State’s holistic approach to reducing GHG emissions, the strategies used, the impacts of those strategies, and overall progress towards meeting goals. One strategy that will be highlighted is a recently completed 70-megawatt, utility scale solar project that will provide 25% of Penn State’s purchased electricity over the next 25 years. This presentation will discuss the positive financial, environmental, and local biodiversity benefits that large solar projects can offer to farming communities.
