About This Webinar

Air Force subject matter experts will address indoor air quality (IAQ) topics in a panel divided into the following 3 parts: radon, mold and ventilation procedures. Lt Col Alan Hale of the Air Force Medical Readiness Agency, will discuss the new Department of Defense radon policy goal and occupational exposure limit; and, address overall health risk and advantages of the new policy for both residential and non-residential settings. Mr. Jim Works of the AF Civil Engineering Center, will discuss the Air Force current processes, procedures and guidance for handling mold concerns in AF facilities and review conditions and corrective actions taken in deployed locations. Mr. Tom Adams, Air Force Civil Engineering Center, will wrap up the webinar in describing ventilation and how it impacts indoor air quality. He will demonstrate this by using the IAQ method to mitigate hazards in the workspace.

Lt Col (Ret) James V. Works, P.E., PMP, CCE is a former Air National Guard
(ANG) Base Civil Engineer and Bioenvironmental Engineer. He commanded several units including the 877th and 777th Expeditionary Prime BEEF Squadrons in Afghanistan in 2011-2012. He served on the Connecticut Joint State Headquarters working Army Guard Construction and Facilities Management projects and EOC during Superstorm Sandy and the 2013 Blizzard. He worked as an engineer for Foster Wheeler Constructors, Interlake Material Handling, Amana Appliances, Country Pure Foods and the Defense Contract Management Agency. Since 2016 he has worked at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center in the mechanical engineering area, and is currently the Air Force Fuels, Plumbing, and Vertical Transportation Equipment Subject Matter Expert. He supported an Air Force Audit Agency follow up of the 2018 DoDIG US Military-Occupied Facilities Evaluation - Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar that identified issues with mold mitigation. He experienced the damage and post-Hurricane Michael assessment and recovery of Tyndall AFB and Bay County, Florida.
