A talk by Meryem Habibi. Africa has the growth and population necessary to generate trillions of dollars in digital growth, job creation and innovation, yet it is often overlooked by “Western” companies. Africa, however, is proving that it is not a continent to be underestimated. Digital penetration, including access to smartphones and related technology like mobile money, is expected to reach within 50% in the next decade. The continent is setting the standard for new forms of payments and embrace of digital platforms.
In combining this existing digital revolution with the continent’s expected 50% of global population growth by 2050, it is clear that business leaders should be considering how, when and why Africa should be a part of their revenue strategy.
