pv magazine Webinar | Will high power string inverters conquer Asian large-scale markets?

About This Webinar

Initiative partner: ABB

ABB is proposing a new approach to inverter design, which is said to ensure optimal integration with the transformer station. The company claims that its new, Intersolar award-winning PVS-175 inverter intends to enable disruptive system designs, and demonstrates how inverter technology can effectively support the solar industry. But markets, and the technologies that find acceptance within them, are different all over the world. In this second webinar in our series about the new inverter design we will look into the Asia-Pacific region. Can Asia, can India, China and even Australia with their gigantic solar plants, profit from string inverters with more power? Are cost savings possible?

In the webinar, we will also discuss current demand for string inverters in large-scale solar projects with Drag Pandit, Deputy General Manager of a well-known EPC company, India-based Sterling and Wilson, who will share his experience with string inverters.

In a scenario in which system cost breakdown is rapidly evolving towards a higher share for BoS and O&M, ABB is seeking to shift the paradigm in inverter design and identify other areas for cost optimization while preserving the system yield. In the upcoming pv magazine webinar, ABB’s Global Product Manager Marco Trova will discuss the new inverter concept, which ABB says can integrate the transformer station and save on combiner boxes, and explain how this concept is expected to increase yields and reduce costs in large scale projects.

To date, we don’t know of other >100 kW string inverters which have 12 maximum power Point trackers. That’s why we are excited to learn more. Join us for this webinar.
