pv magazine Webinar | Optimizing the different parameters that influence bifacial gain with trackers

About This Webinar

Initiative partner: Soltec

With the emergence of bifacial modules, tracker suppliers are in the process of figuring out the new optimal set-up with regard to tracker height, row spacing and tracking algorithms. The old paradigm of merely tracking azimuth position no longer applies.

While backtracking in the past meant to avoid shadowing down row, manufacturers are now examining the potential gains of capturing module reflections from a modules front to the adjacent rows rear. Additionally, there are seasonally changing ground albedo values, that impact the optimum.

In this webinar, we are joined by Soltec who believe they have a solution, and will share with you their expertise in tracking for bifacial modules. Colin Caufield, VP of Sales USA and Javier Guerrero, R&D Engineer PV from Soltec will present a summary of the results obtained from September 2018 to June 2019 at Soltec’s Bifacial Tracking Evaluation Center (BiTEC) in Livermore, California.

They will breakdown how BiTEC studied bifacial gain in photovoltaic modules, and how they developed according to the two most common tracker market configurations: one-in-portrait (1P) and two-in-portrait (2P). By using these configurations, the tracker is optimized for bifacial, resulting in 2% higher gain.

Join our webinar as we examine their findings, to understand the different parameters that influence on bifacial gain, and discover how to simulate bifacial projects using PVsyst software.

Webinar content:
• Bifacial gain measurements
• 1P Solar Trackers Vs. 2P Solar Trackers
• Albedo parameters
• Shading and module temperature
