pv magazine Webinar | Concerns and solutions – reliability in large-wafer modules

About This Webinar

Initiative partner: Jinko Solar

Back in 2019, few could have predicted the speed at which large wafer formats would come to dominate the market. Module manufacturers have quickly adopted cells in various formats larger than 166mm, and these are now headed out to the field.

These module innovations promise advantages in terms of energy yield and project costs, but as with any new technology – the introduction brings new concerns regarding performance and reliability, both within the module itself and at system level. And the industry is hard at work addressing these concerns.

In this pv magazine Webinar, we’ll hear more about the concerns raised by the latest generation of module technology, from the risk of cell cracking to the multiple challenges posed by higher currents. Mohammed Saady, Technical Services Manager for the Middle East region at JinkoSolar will take us through the optimizations made by Jinko to address these concerns and ensure the long-term reliability of its Tiger Pro module series, and offer some case studies from installations to demonstrate their effectiveness.

Testing, both in the laboratory and in the field, is key to ensuring long-term reliability. U.S. based Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC) has put together a sequence it calls the Thresher Test, designed to put PV modules through their paces. Daniel Chang, VP of Business Development at RETC will be on hand to take us through the parameters of this test, and how Jinko’s Tiger modules have performed, as well as how the test addresses different bill-of-materials combinations.
