Join us for our 1st Conversation Over Coffee of 2021, focusing on Equity finance for SMEs - with a focus on early stage businesses.
Within the Corporate Finance team at PKF Francis Clark we are predicting an increase in equity investments into South / South West based SMEs in 2021. To tie in with one of British Business Bank’s key themes of 2021 we are focusing this event on equity for early stage businesses. However, we feel sure the content will also be of interest to more established businesses thinking about securing equity funders – covering as it will the concept, sources, terminologies and potential advantages of equity finance.
The session will be hosted by PKF Francis Clark’s Corporate Finance team’s Nick Tippett, a past winner of the coveted Insider Young Deal Maker of the Year Award, and will bring together experts and practitioners on early stage equity from British Business Bank; Michelmores (focusing on their business angel network - MAINstream) and regional equity provider - CIOSIF. They will be joined by a founder who has recently raised equity to give invaluable insights from investee perspective.
Among the questions Nick will be asking of those on the virtual sofa will be:
• Are we seeing an increase in interest in equity finance from SMEs in the South/ South West?
• What is equity finance and what place does it fill in the funding jigsaw for SMEs?
• When does equity finance work and when does it not?
• What needs to happen to increase use of equity finance for SMEs in the UK – supply and demand
• Is there a regional imbalance in the use of equity finance by SMEs? If so, why?
• Sources of equity finance?
• Key tips for an SME looking to raise equity finance?
