Dr Chow is a medical practitioner who bought her first laser in 1988 when completing an acupuncture course. Her interest grew in Photobiomodulation therapy which she has used alongside acupuncture in her general practice. She developed a special interest in non-drug pain management and has worked exclusively in this area for more than twenty years. In 2006 she completed a PhD in the treatment of pain using PBM from the Faculty of Medicine, Sydney University. She and her mentor, Professor Patricia Armati, were subsequently awarded an NHMRC grant to study the effects of laser on nerves as a mechanism for the pain-relieving effects of laser at the Brain and Mind Research Institute, Sydney University.

She has publications in Pain, the Lancet and other international journals. Dr Chow has been the author of several book chapters and has co-edited a textbook of pain medicine, Pain: the person, the science and the clinical interface. She currently works in private general practice and is an honorary research affiliate at the Brain and Mind Centre, the University of Sydney. She remains passionate about educating patients, the medical profession, dentists, physiotherapists and allied health professionals about the benefits of PBM.

I believe this presentation should be the backbone of a strategic plan containing all mentioned and unmentioned issues, followed by steps to be taken in response.
