Founder and CEO of THOR Photomedicine Ltd
James has been working on Photobiomodulation for 30 years (since 1987). He is a recognised authority on Photobiomodulation dose, dose rate effects and the measurement and reporting of parameters. He has written or co-authored 18 published academic papers and three books on Laser Photobiomodulation.

His most recent appointments include: Biomedical Optics Society conference chair (2009 – to-date), Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine (2009 – to-date), Editorial Board of Photomedicine and Laser Surgery (2008 to-2015), and served on the World Association for Laser Therapy (2000 – 2004) and the North American Association for Laser Therapy (2002 – 2006). James presented Photobiomodulation to the United Nations Global Health Impact Forum, and is a recent recipient of the 2020 WALT (World Association for Laser Therapy) Presidential Commendation for service and Leadership in Photobiomodulation.

Dr Chow is a medical practitioner who bought her first laser in 1988 when completing an acupuncture course. Her interest grew in Photobiomodulation therapy which she has used alongside acupuncture in her general practice. She developed a special interest in non-drug pain management and has worked exclusively in this area for more than twenty years. In 2006 she completed a PhD in the treatment of pain using PBM from the Faculty of Medicine, Sydney University. She and her mentor, Professor Patricia Armati, were subsequently awarded an NHMRC grant to study the effects of laser on nerves as a mechanism for the pain-relieving effects of laser at the Brain and Mind Research Institute, Sydney University.

She has publications in Pain, the Lancet and other international journals. Dr Chow has been the author of several book chapters and has co-edited a textbook of pain medicine, Pain: the person, the science and the clinical interface. She currently works in private general practice and is an honorary research affiliate at the Brain and Mind Centre, the University of Sydney. She remains passionate about educating patients, the medical profession, dentists, physiotherapists and allied health professionals about the benefits of PBM.

Clark E. Tedford, Ph.D. is one of the founders of LumiThera and has served as President and CEO since the formation of the Company in 2013. Previously Dr. Tedford was Vice President and Chief Science Officer at PhotoThera, a leading LED/laser company from 2010-2012. Prior to PhotoThera, Dr. Tedford was at Omeros from 2003-2010 as Vice President, Pharmaceutical Research. Prior to Omeros, Dr. Tedford was President of Solentix, Inc.

During Dr. Tedford’s 25 years in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, he has held several scientific and executive management positions from 1993-2003 including Executive Vice President of Research and Development for Gliatech, Inc. Prior to that Dr. Tedford was at Schering-Plough Research Institute as a Principal Scientist. Dr. Tedford received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Iowa and completed his post-doctoral work in the Department of Pharmacology at the Loyola University Medical School.
