Preparing for Open Access: Practical insights for journals looking to an OA future

About This Webinar

In our endeavor to support your work as Editors and provide opportunities for the exchange of experiences and ideas, we are holding regular Editors’ Briefings. This is a series of virtual events exploring industry trends and best practice on a range of topics of direct relevance to our journal editors and editorial office staff.

Our latest offering will feature presentations from members of OUP’s Open Access team and will look in-depth at the process of preparing for a ‘flip’ to an open access publishing model, with practical insights for Editors and Journal Editorial Office staff of all journals facing an OA future, regardless of current publishing model or ‘flip-position’. We will discuss how best to measure a title’s ‘flip-readiness’, outline the key steps and timelines for agreeing and implementing a flip, and share industry and OUP-level insights into the impact that an OA flip can have on performance indicators such as submission, usage, and citation. The session will include case studies of recent OUP flips and will also suggest editorial strategies for managing submission attrition and building long-term sustainability in the OA model.
