ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Teaching and Leading for Sexual Orientation Gender Identity Inclusive Education: Understanding Why it Matters.
Times are changing, and our schools need to reflect and embrace the diversity that exists among us. All students need to feel safe and welcome in schools and valued for their authentic selves. This webinar series will explore the basics of how to make classrooms and schools more inclusive for all students from Kindergarten to grade 12. Participants will learn the language and definitions related to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) and delve into the social-emotional rationale to support Lesbian Gay Bi-Sexual Transgender and Questioning Two Spirit (LGBTQ2S) students. The goal is to create learning environments that are safe spaces by integrating practical and easy to use classroom and school-wide strategies and resources. Throughout the series, we will share ready-made and user-friendly curricular materials and lesson plans, videos, resources, and activities to use at all levels both in English and in French. This series is intended for teachers, educational support staff, and school-based and district leaders who are at the beginning stages of exploring Diversity within the school environment. While every session is distinct in content delivery, each webinar builds on the knowledge gained in the previous session.
