Ever wonder what happens when a group of passionate calligraphers gather for a week of inspiration, learning, and lettering? Join Montblanc Inspire Writing teachers Mike Ward and Chantelle Hoffmann for a special behind-the-scenes look at the IAMPETH Conference—an annual gathering of calligraphers from around the world, hosted this year in Norfolk, Virginia.

IAMPETH, short for the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting, hosts a yearly event where traditional pen arts are studied, celebrated, and passed on to new generations. In this Inspire Writing session, Mike and Chantelle will share highlights from the week, insights into what calligraphers do when they’re surrounded by their peers, and a look at historic pieces from the IAMPETH archives that continue to push and inspire their own work.

Expect an honest and uplifting conversation, plenty of eye candy for the lettering enthusiast, and takeaways to spark your own creative journey. We’ll also leave time for Q&A so bring your curiosity and your questions!

Chantelle Hoffmann of Bespoke Strokes Calligraphy is a professional calligrapher, engraver, and instructor whose work with pointed pen calligraphy has graced celebrity weddings, luxury brand items, and countless home walls. Her journey with pen and ink began as a young teen and has been guided by instruction from several Master Penmen and numerous other skilled artists.

Mike Ward is a professional Penman, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, who specializes in Ornamental Penmanship and Spencerian Script and is known worldwide for his ornate, balanced designs. Mike has studied under some of the world’s greatest Penmans, including Master Penmen Michael Sull, Harvest Crittenden and Jake Weidmann. In addition to his penmanship practice, he has also pioneered the technique of debossing or foiling calligraphic designs, onto leather items. Mike is a professional artist, dancer and dance instructor. He is passionate about teaching and sharing his love for the process of learning.
