Shared Work Supports Missourians, Businesses & Communities

Shared Work allows an employer facing a downturn in business or production to divide the work that is available among a group of employees by reducing their work hours instead of laying off, meaning 100% of employees are retained.

Eligible employees receive regular employer benefits along with a portion of their unemployment while working the reduced schedule.

When business returns to normal, the employer is in a competitive position because they have a fully intact, highly-skilled workforce ready to return to work without the lost time, money, and productivity associated with recruiting, hiring, and training new employees. Meanwhile, the employee stays connected to the business, earns their usual wages, and receives a supplement from Shared Work.
