My first job was in the financial services profession more than 35 years ago and in 1998 I set up Thoroughbred Financial Services to advise mainly private clients on wealth management. The business merged with Atkinson Bolton Consulting in 2004, which was subsequently acquired by Mattioli Woods in 2013.

Alongside my role as Chief Investment Officer, I am part of the senior executive team for the Group and also Chair the Investment Committee and the Asset Allocation Committee. I regularly speak at national and international events, both within the profession and on behalf of Mattioli Woods. I have been leading our Investment Briefing webinars since we started them in April 2020. I am also a non-executive director at Amati Global Investors.

Head of Quantitative Strategies for Alquity, Marnie has over 20 years’ experience in quantitative research, joining Alquity in 2019 to pursue her passion for delivering impact through investment.

Marnie focuses on quantitative research, risk management, portfolio construction and the risk-return optimisation of investment strategies.

Based in Nairobi, Nzambi is a woman of many talents… a scientist, inventor, engineer, entrepreneur and overall, a change maker. After founding Gjenge Makers in 2017, Nzambi has developed the first brick made from plastic waste. Using her own machines designed herself at the factory, Gjenge Makers has recycled more than 20 tonnes of plastic waste.

Following her graduation with a first class Master of Arts degree, Lauren has worked within the financial services sector since 2013, joining Mattioli Woods three years later.

In this time Lauren has joined the Group’s Asset Allocation Committee as well as the Investment Research Team, becoming a key member of both. Lauren is also a member of the Portfolio Management Committee, a team responsible for the management of all discretionary non-multi asset fund and tailored products.

Since joining Mattioli Woods Lauren has become involved with fund selection, curating a preferred list of tax efficient investments. She has also created wealth management strategies for both individuals and corporates. Alongside this she has also taken an active role in managing the company’s Environmental, Social & Governance Policy.

Lauren has completed the Investment Advice Diploma and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

Outside of work Lauren is a big animal lover with four dogs. She also loves to read fiction with her favourite authors being the Brontë sisters and Angela Carter.
