VASEA Webinar: Final Individual and Fiduciary Returns for a Deceased Taxpayer (1 Hour IRS CE)

About This Webinar

Death is a part of life. At some point, most tax preparers will need to prepare final returns for a taxpayer, as well as fiduciary returns for the taxpayer’s estate and/or trust. This webinar provides an overview of how to determine what tax returns need to be filed, what information needs to be collected, and how income should be reported and allocated between the different returns. The presentation will emphasize estates, but will also briefly discuss the use of living or revocable trusts as will substitutes.

The presenter, Carol May is an Enrolled Agent and Certified Financial PlannerTM at Wesling Financial Planning Services, a fee-only financial planning firm serving both hourly and retainer-based clients. Carol provides services in tax preparation (individual, small business, trusts and estates) and planning, as well as retirement, estate, investment, and insurance planning. Carol has a particular interest in trust and estate tax planning and preparation. Carol is a NTPI Fellow, and represents clients in front of the IRS and state taxing authorities. Carol serves as a board member for the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents and as education chair for the Northern Virginia chapter of VaSEA.

Carol earned her Bachelor in Science in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Tech, Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and completed a post-graduate fellowship in computational fluid dynamics in Göttingen, Germany. In her prior career, Carol served over 30 years as a government contractor, performing scientific work and managing complex physics and software development programs.
