KAIZEN™ and Lean Foundations
About this Knowledge certification
Foundation is the most important element of a building or superstructure! The taller you wish to go, the deeper and rock-solid must be the foundation!

Often our participants tell us about how much they have gathered and gained by attending the KAIZEN™ and Lean Foundation module. This module helps you to revisit, realign and realize more about the very basics and foundational concepts of KAIZEN™ and Lean. This module forms the bedrock, on which sits the next two modules on Total Flow and Top Productive Maintenance.

KAIZEN™ and Lean Foundation module covers.

KAIZEN™ Change Model - KCM. This is the 'operating system' of KAIZEN™/ Lean. If you have wondered how to make improvements stick and make Lean part of organizational DNA, this session captures all of this and more.

Muda, Muda, and Muri (Waste, Variability and Physical Stress) is always lurking at the workplace and embedded into all processes! These are silent killers of efficiency. The 3Mu's steal. they steal productivity, quality, time and leave processes and the organization drained! Understand the interplay of the 3Mu's from the master’s viewpoint and come out inspired.

It is often said that if you cannot get your Five S right, one can never get KAIZEN™ Lean right! Why is this concept which looks so simply, yet so difficult to comprehend, practice and sustain! This module will leave you with lots of practical tips and ideas to put to work!

Problem-solving and structured problem solving are two different approaches! One is based on inspiration, the other on repeatable actions. One does not guarantee solutions, whereas structured problem solving will always take you to a solution, every time and for everyone, who applies it! Structured and rapid problem solving is what differentiates the boys from the men, when it comes to KAIZEN™ and Lean maturity!

    Wednesday, April 21, 2021 · 4:30 PM IST
In order to add value from the customers’ perspective, we have to remove these 3 MUs from corresponding processes. To do so, we first have to recognize/ identify them. This program aims to do precisely this: it strives to equip learners with the lens to see what is invisible today! Attend the webinar, get access to the lens, start hunting for the 3 MUs, and pave the way for waste-free processes!

Five S: Discipline for Workplace Organization
    Thursday, April 22, 2021 · 4:30 PM IST
Five S is the starting point of any improvement journey. It is the foundation on which the Operational Excellence journey starts. Five S is a systematic way to improve workplace organization and functioning by establishing the basic conditions that are essential for improvements. It's difficult to make improvements or approach world-class levels of operations with work areas that are poorly organized, unclean, unsafe, and not standardized. Apart from this, Five S is often a good way to familiarize people with continuous improvement by involving and engaging them to improve workplace conditions and organization.

Structured Problem Solving: 9 Step GKW Methodology
    Friday, April 23, 2021 · 4:30 PM IST
When there is a gap between our expectations and reality, we feel unhappy – which is a “Problem”. A deviation from the specification, a failure to meet timelines etc., become our problems. To survive and prosper, organizations must be competent in identifying and resolving these problems

A fundamental part of every manager’s or supervisor’s role is finding ways to solve problems. Many times because of lack of time or because of pressure to achieve results, supervisors/ managers tend to use non-systematic or ad hoc processes to solve problems. They may achieve some results in the short term but it is observed, the sustenance of gains in such processes is very low.

So, being a confident problem solver is really important to one’s success. Much of that confidence comes from having a good process to use when approaching a problem. With a systematic problem-solving process, one can solve problems quickly, effectively and the sustenance of gains is guaranteed.

Working on managing the problem (correction) instead of solving it (with corrective action) creates a situation of firefighting in our daily work. To solve a problem permanently, we need to understand and act on its root cause. We will also understand the steps of identifying root causes and methods to prevent their recurrence.
