Advanced Professional Certification for the Career Ladder (Full-Day)

About This Webinar

Calling veteran teachers! Idaho teacher compensation law changed this year to establish an Advanced Professional step on the career ladder to bring more money to veteran teachers. There are, however, more accountability requirements that go with this. This class will walk you through, in detail, what is required to be considered Advanced Professional for movement on the state Career Ladder and give you strategies for how you can best position yourself to do that. Have your last year’s evaluation and your IPLP handy when you take this class because we’ll be going through them to help you create a plan for next year.

IEA Center for Teaching and Learning Trainer
I am a retired teacher who served as an elementary teacher in the Idaho Falls district for 35 years. I was an active member during my career and became an IEA trainer and have enjoyed helping other educators grow. Since retirement, I have continued to present various classes supporting our members with professional development.
I have been involved with teacher evaluations in many different ways. I served on the Idaho Falls District #91 board policy committee to develop the evaluation processes when Danielson was mandated by the State Board of Education and presented the IEA Evaluation Toolkit classes throughout several regions. I achieved and renewed National Board Certification, and later scored the for the National Board. When the State Department proposed the MEP process, I became involved and presented MEP support classes and later volunteered to score the MEP portfolios.
I believe the more a teacher knows about the evaluation processes used the better they can guide and control their own careers.

7th Grade ELA
I am a 7th grade ELA teacher, and I love to teach! I was asked to serve on the committee to create the standards and rubrics for the Master Educator Portfolio. It was an interesting experience and I learned a great deal. I love Shari g what learned! I have a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, so my students call me Dr. D. When I’m not teaching, I love to camp in the lovely Idaho forests, read fiction and non-fiction of all sorts. My reading companions are my mom and my pug Annie. I have created several versions of my portfolio, and though it is time consuming, I have gained great insight into who I am as a teacher. It is empowering!
