ICCFA Webinar Series #25 - Immortal Art Galleries

About This Webinar

Join us on February 15 at 2:00 PM EST for the next ICCFA Webinar, Immortal Art Galleries with Megan Anderson, General Manager at Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Art holds the ability to tell a story and evoke a wide array of emotions. Paintings like Mona Lisa and The Starry Night have captured our imaginations for centuries. We have been building museums to showcase these masterpieces for centuries as well. The oldest art museum in the US is the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art which opened to the public in 1844. In this webinar, Megan Anderson proposes the oldest art gallery in the US is actually The Miles Standish Burial Ground, founded in 1656, where some of the Mayflower pilgrims are interred. Does that idea sound strange?

Megan believes cemeteries are immortal art galleries hosting truly one-of-a-kind pieces of irreplaceable art celebrating humanity and every memorial should reflect the life of its owner in detail. The concept of creating a piece of art when designing a memorial will result in building tremendous value in not only memorialization but also permanent placement. Memorials, like paintings, should express a story, evoke emotions and give us a glimpse of who the owner is. How you present these ideas to your families will reframe their mindset to see the value in what you offer. Join Megan as she shares with you her passion for memorials and cemeteries and helps you translate that to the people you serve. Adopting these theories can be measured in increased sales, increased belief in the merit of what deathcare professionals do, and most importantly, an increase in the healing experience that honoring our dead brings.

Megan's background is in the performing arts. From a title role in the film “Radio” to various other stage and screen performances; she is comfortable in front of an audience! After unexpectedly losing her father in 2012, she became a family service counselor. Her journey brought her back home to North Carolina in 2017 where her role shifted to General Manager. Unsatisfied with the impersonal funeral service her father was given, she attended ICCFA University and became a Certified Funeral Celebrant and now combines her speaking skills with her passion for celebrating lives through intimate and very detailed funeral services. Since coming to Holly Hill, her and her husband have increased sales dramatically and changed the way their community views their cemetery.
