One thing that 2020 has taught us is that the workplace has changed irreversibly and with it so have the skills required to participate. To ensure inclusion in the digital economy and the workplace of the future all students should be taught to be fluent in digital, from creativity to problem-solving, robotics and coding.

In this session, sponsored by HP, we will hear from schools at different points on their journey to digital fluency and from an employer who is encouraging younger people to embrace digital and science skills.
  • Understanding the skills needed to participate in future labour markets
  • Developing digital literacy in the K12 student population
  • Encouraging young people to embrace STEM subjects

    Donna Shah
Assistant Digital Learning Adviser at Cognita Schools
For over twenty years I have been involved in the education sector in a range of roles with increasing links to education technology. I moved to my current role in January primarily to support with a 1-to-1 device pilot which rapidly progressed to a Europe wide rollout to our schools. As a Digital Learning team, we supported all aspects of this programme and are now going ‘Beyond the Fundamentals’ with staff, supporting schools as they progress with their digital transformation and encouraging innovation in the classroom.

As a member of the Microsoft Education community and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow for the Central region my focus is on using these tools to enhance teaching and learning for all.
During my ‘spare time’ I am studying for a Masters in Digital Education and find that this complements my work with EdTech and how this leads to the class of the future.
