Welcome to the GameHERS Academy! We are so excited to launch this show as a resource for teachers, parents, and other stakeholders who are interested in scholastic gaming and esports.
So, what is the GameHERS Academy all about? We are hoping that this can be a place for teachers, administrators, coaches, parents, and all stakeholders interested in scholastic gaming and esports to come where they can actually “see” what scholastic gaming looks like. So many people think that gaming is just about kids staring at a screen trying to get to the next level, and that just simply is not true. There is so much that goes into playing video games–perseverance, delayed gratification, theory crafting, data analyzing–those are all skills people learn while playing video games. Add scholastic gaming to that, and there really is a pipeline of opportunities that can lead to anything from increasing your social circle to college scholarships and maybe even a career in gaming.
During the GameHERS Academy, viewers will have several opportunities to interact with me, our special guests.
