Entering the Hong Kong Fintech Market

Michael Au oversees corporate partnership in HKSTP by leading Global Acceleration Academy (GAA). Michael is a full-stack startup practitioner with 10+ years hands-on experience, focusing on business development, product design and project management. He believes co-creation and commercialisation of technologies through an empowered global partnership network is the key to accelerate innovation.

King Leung joined Invest Hong Kong as Head of Fintech in May 2019. Previously he was a practitioner in InsurTech, AI, Big Data, CRM and Loyalty and Digital Marketing in Greater China. He has over 15 years of entrepreneurial experience, such as founding a data analytics/CRM startup in Hong Kong and investing in new ventures of Conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Exchange (BDX) based InsurTech business.

Prior to that, King was a management consultant in strategy, operation and information technology with Booz Allen Hamilton and KPMG Consulting in the USA and the UK. King also played a role in technology investment as a venture capitalist.

King serves in leadership positions at several marketing and technology associations, including The Marketing Society Asia, [Digital + Direct] Marketing Association Asia, Asia America Multi-Technology Association (Pearl River Delta Chapter), Young Entrepreneurs Development Council and Fintech Association of Hong Kong, etc.

King Leung holds an MBA (Hons) in Finance and Strategy from University of Chicago, and BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison. He teaches Fintech and Business Intelligence at the Institute of China Business (中国商学院) for Hong Kong University SPACE across Mainland China (Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu and Guangzhou).

Susanne Chishti is the CEO of FINTECH Circle, Europe's 1st Investor Network focused on fintech investments & Founder of the FINTECH Circle Institute, the leading fintech learning platform for C-level innovation workshops and fintech courses.

Susanne is the Co-Editor of the bestselling The FINTECH Book Series published by Wiley. She has also been a fintech TV Commentator on CNBC and is a guest lecturer on financial technology at the University of Cambridge and Warwick Business School.

After completing her MBA she started her career working for a fintech company (before the term "fintech" was invented) in the Silicon Valley 25 years ago. She then worked more than 15 years across Deutsche Bank, Lloyds Banking Group, Morgan Stanley and Accenture in London and Hong Kong.

Philippa is an Advisor and FinTech Specialist for the UK Department for International Trade, consulting on implementing approaches to innovation and securing the ongoing prosperity of the sector. She leads on initiatives including FinTech Bridges, Leading Edge and the US-UK Financial Innovation Partnership, and works closely with the FinTech Strategic Review implementation and responses to C-19. Philippa engages with governments and regulators globally to reduce market access, policy and regulatory barriers for businesses and to promote collaboration and competition. She also works directly with firms, supporting companies with strategic development, building partnerships and scaling internationally.

Since beginning her career with Merrill Lynch, Philippa’s work has spanned financial services, entrepreneurship, international business development, policy, investment, business strategy, and corporate innovation.
