Co-Founder of Our Kids Deserve It
In 2011, Mason began his journey into the world of public safety. In 2013, he started focusing more on the topic of school safety. In 2014, he took part in implementing and launching “The Safest School in America.” In 2016, he officially co-founded Our Kids Deserve it (OKDi) with his partner Jessica. Also in 2016, he was part of the team assembled by the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association to get their safe school legislation passed within the state of Indiana. In 2017 their legislative efforts took effect, essentially creating minimum standards of safety for the new construction of public k-12 schools within Indiana - 2017 was also the year that the state of Indiana stopped short in making that legislation actually change anything for the better. In 2018, Mason wrote a book with his partner Jessica named “Soft Targets,” and OKDi hit the road to travel the country to work with other states who had the desire to make their state the safest for schools in America. By the end of 2018, Pennsylvania presented itself as the next state worth OKDi’s time and efforts. By the end of 2019, OKDi transformed into a nationally trusted resource and regionally sought after provider of school based services. As of today, Mason’s name has appeared in hundreds of local, regional, and national school safety outlets, articles, broadcasts, magazines and blog posts. Somewhere along the way he became a national expert in the world of school safety, with a primary focus on preventing mass shootings and protecting educational environments from acts of mass violence.
