Why should we care about privacy anyway?

Thursday, May 28, 2020 · 9:00 a.m. · London
About This Webinar

A talk by Preston Llewellyn & Ben Rapp. As enterprises scramble to build safer workplaces for returning employees, and governments spin up technology-based contact tracing programmes in record time, privacy is both under threat and in focus.

With the UK regulator conspicuously taking a back seat, should we stop thinking about privacy? Or is there more to it than avoiding regulatory fines? We think privacy matters because people matter, and that respecting fundamental rights is part of being a good corporate citizen. As ESG investment becomes an ever more important theme, corporate citizenship is more than just website gloss. Taking privacy seriously means building trust with all of your stakeholders which is repaid in everything from lower talent acquisition costs, through investor valuations to higher net promoter scores.

Over the next year we’re going to be running a research programme in partnership with an economic research consultancy and market research firm looking to put some substantiated numbers behind this claim. In this webinar we set out our agenda, look at some real world examples and consider the work done in this area to date.
