For 22 years, Mr Roger Gilbert was the Secretary General of the International Feed Industry Federation, which he co-founded in in 1987. In that time, he saw the federation rise from humble beginnings, to represent more than 85% of all compound feeds produced globally. He initiated the industry’s NGO representation with Codex Alimentarius and set up one of the first Memorandum of Understandings between an industry and the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation.

Today, Mr Gilbert is the publisher of International Aquafeed and Milling & Grain magazine: two international magazines translated into several languages to promote aqua and terrestrial protein production.

Joseph P. Kearns is the editor for International Petfood magazine, and a consultant in Extrusion Cooking Consulting, Animal and Aquatic Feeds. Previously he was the Vice President Aquafeed Div. for WengerManufacturing, Inc. Joe received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University inFood Technology Engineering. He has been employed at Wenger since 1974. He has 8 patents for Wenger all with regards to aquatic feeds and/or machinery associated with production of same. He has more than 60 published articles on aquatic feeds production advantages by extrusion cooking through trade magazines.He has presented at countless events around the world on the topic of aquatic feed production.

Professor Simon J Davies has a BSc degree in Biochemistry, University of Wales, 1978, and a Masters in Animal Nutrition from Newcastle University, 1979 and a PhD from the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling, Scotland in 1984. He spent two years at the University of Idaho, USA undertaking his Postdoctoral Fellowship in fish nutrition 1984-86. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of International Aquafeed/Fish Farming Technology trade magazine since 2009 at Perendale Publishing (12 years).

Professor Davies has over 36 years’ experience in academia and extensive teaching and research attainment. His aquaculture specialisation is in fish nutrition and feed technology that has enabled over 36 full time PhD student completions and supervision of generations of undergraduate and Masters Students in aquaculture and related biosciences. Professor Davies has examined the PhD theses of over 40 students in aquaculture. He has developed and led masters’ programmes in Marine Biology and Aquaculture at the University of Plymouth and Harper Adams University, UK for over 34 years, having served 6 years at Harper Adams University. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the National University of Ireland, Galway and Emeritus Professor at Harper Adams University. He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham and visiting Professor at Bristol University Veterinary School. He has authored over 200 scientific papers, book chapters and commercial reports and was recently appointed a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and a Fellow of the Institution of Aquaculture, Singapore and a Freeman of the City of London. He has advised many government agencies and grant awarding bodies, and acted as a consultant to numerous commercial companies in biotechnology and the feed industry.
