Equity Partner at Pareto Securities, Shipping & Offshore Project Finance
As a partner of Pareto on the project finance team, Kristoffer Sandaker is originating, structuring and financing asset backed transactions within the maritime shipping and offshore space. The transactions span the entire spectrum from fixed income credit solutions or structured-finance, to pure market plays, often in the form of sale-leasebacks or bareboat/time-charter projects within a variety of risk profiles. Note that outside of his Linkedin bio, he only rarely refers to himself in the third person…

For vessel owners, the different project finance structures can represent ways of raising capital on the asset level, while for equity investors, they represent pure-play investment opportunities in maritime assets. Debt financing for the projects is often sourced from international shipping banks, but also non-bank providers and bond structures are employed. A creative approach towards structuring deals ensures a variety of ways in which risk can be shared between the investors and the counterparties.

Many of the asset backed transactions, especially those syndicated amongst a group of investors, continue to be managed by Pareto entities post-closing. Overseeing, managing and occasionally restructuring existing portfolio companies are also a significant part of Sandaker’s engagements, having overseen project companies valued at more than half a billion USD.
