About This Webinar

Live session with Coastal Carolina University

When we open a book, we expect the story to be the same every time: the same words, on the same pages, in the same order, conveying the same events. But what if, when you opened that book, the words and therefore the story were different? What if that book was reimagined as an interactive computer program that wrote stories that changed every time you visited them? What if you could write stories like that -- stories based in computer code that were reanimated differently each time you read them? In this interactive session, we’ll teach you the basics of what is called “generative art-making," starting with generative storytelling. Working with analog materials, like paper, pens, and tape, you’ll create the basis for a simple computer program, hosted on Twitter, that will tweet new stories based on what you create in this session. Welcome to the exciting world of generative, storytelling, and art-making Twitter bots!
