Karen Taylor is excited to share some of her fascinating research related to the inclusion of narrative – specifically Indigenous narratives – into her sociology classes both face-to-face and online. Truth and Reconciliation is now a cornerstone of higher education in Canada and it is incumbent upon us to learn how we can best incorporate it into our teaching.

The objectives of this webinar are to:
• Offer narrative as a universal design tool and a viable tool in teaching both face-to-face and online.
• Introduce the Culturally Responsive Teaching Manual on incorporating Indigenous content and pedagogy into topics in sociology.

Karen Taylor teaches psychology and sociology in the University Transfer Arts & Sciences department of NorQuest College in Edmonton, where her personal background and experience, as well as her passion for narrative, blend seamlessly into the multicultural landscape of the college’s student body. Karen’s passion for teaching and learning through story sparked her most recent journey through the research that informs her current presentation.
