    Ernie Durbin
    Chief Technology Officer, Clarocity
    Ernie Durbin is Chief Valuation Officer at Clarocity. As CVO, Durbin leverages the strengths of Clarocity’s technologies and develops new solutions for the valuation industry. Durbin has been instrumental to the invention of technology and methodologies that power Clarocity’s proprietary valuation products. Additionally, Durbin has leveraged his 35+ years of real estate valuation experience to expand Clarocity Valuation Services into portfolio review and due diligence.

    Durbin and Associates Inc. specializes in identifying and solving complex residential valuation problems in the Greater Cincinnati Area. Complex valuation services include specialized appraisals such as: relocation, review, REO, and forensic assignments.
    Personally emphasizing Relocation, Ernie is a long time member of Worldwide ERC© holding their CRP designation since its inception in 1990. Ernie is also a member and serves on the board of directors of Relocation Appraisers and Consultants (RAC), a nationwide organization of independent professionals who have distinguished themselves as leaders of the Employee Relocation Industry.

    Ernie Durbin also holds the SRA and AI-RRS designations from the Appraisal Institute. With the Institute he has served on several special projects as well as a residential experience screener. At the national level, Ernie was a former member of the Appraisal Practices Board of The Appraisal Foundation. He also serves on the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) of the Appraisal Foundation. Ernie is on the Executive Council of the Collateral Risk Network (CRN), a network of “thought leaders” within the valuation profession. Members of the CRN elected Durbin to receive the 2018 Valuation Visionary award. The Valuation Visionary award is in recognition of a collateral valuation professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, and professionalism. Winners are nominated by their peers within the Collateral Risk Network.

    Ernie Durbin is married to Velina, and they have four children ranging in age from 22 to 32.

    Peter Christensen
    Counsel, Christensen Law Firm
    Peter Christensen is an attorney. His law practice is focused on providing legal counsel for matters concerning real estate valuation services and insurance coverage. He's the author of Risk Management for Real Estate Appraisers and Appraisal Firms published by the Appraisal Institute. His clients include appraisers, appraisal firms and management companies, as well as investors and technology companies. Prior to forming the Christensen Law Firm (www.valuationlegal.com), Peter worked with the national law firms of Latham & Watkins LLP and Irell & Manella LLP. For 14 years, he then served as the general counsel of LIA Administrators & Insurance Services, which provides liability insurance to thousands of appraisers, appraisal firms and right-of-way service providers. He continues to provide risk management education on behalf of LIA. Peter earned both his BS and JD at the University of California at Berkeley.

    Dr. Clifford Rossi
    Professor, University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business
    Dr. Clifford Rossi is an Executive-in-Residence and Professor of the Practice at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Prior to entering academia, Rossi had nearly 25 years’ experience in banking and government, having held senior executive roles in risk management at several of the largest financial services companies.

    His most recent position was Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer for Citigroup’s Consumer Lending Group where he was responsible for overseeing the risk of a $300+B global portfolio of mortgage, home equity, student loans and auto loans with 700 employees under his direction. While there he was intimately involved in Citi’s TARP and stress test activities. He also served as Chief Credit Officer at Washington Mutual (WaMu) and as Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer at Countrywide Bank.

    Previous to these assignments, Rossi held senior risk management positions at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. He started his career during the thrift crisis at the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Domestic Finance and later at the Office of Thrift Supervision working on key policy issues affecting depositories. Rossi was also an adjunct professor in the Finance Department at the Robert H. Smith School of Business for eight years and has numerous academic and nonacademic articles on banking industry topics. Rossi is frequently quoted on financial policy issues in major newspapers and has appeared on such programs as C-SPAN’s Washington Journal and CNN’s Situation Room. He is currently writing a book, Fundamentals of Risk Management for John Wiley & Sons, Inc. His policy and research interests include GSE reform, housing finance reform , bank capital issues and implications of Dodd-Frank on banking.

    Michael Bradley
    SVP — Modeling, Econometrics, Data Science and Analytics Single-Family Business, Freddie Mac
    Michael is responsible for setting the modeling and analytics strategy, positioning Freddie Mac to become the best credit guarantor. This is a critical role, as Freddie Mac relies on data-driven modeling and analytics to guide functions such as buying loans, valuation and hedging, predicting defaults/severity, and conducting risk management, to name a few.
    Michael returns to Freddie Mac after serving as SVP of Consumer Analytics and Modeling Unit at Citigroup and most recently as SVP of Decision Analytics and Research Team at CoreLogic. He previously was with Freddie Mac from 1991 to 2003. Among his roles, he served as VP and general manager of Strategic Information Services, where he helped innovate and bring Home Value Explorer to market.

    Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Delaware, and a Master of Science and a doctorate, both in economics, from the University of Illinois.

    Robert Murphy
    President - Collateral Advisors, LLC
    Mr. Murphy has an extensive background in the real estate appraisal field that began in 1978. With 40 years of experience in the field he developed a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of valuation related issues including but not limited to valuation techniques, risk management, credit policy and compliance, data integrity, and technology issues. During this time Bob held executive level positions in a financial institution, an appraisal management company, an independent appraisal company, as a sole proprietor, a government sponsored enterprise, and as a consultant. Bob’s appraisal experience specialized in high-end complex property appraisals, corporate relocation, litigation and traditional mortgage lending.

    In 2016, Bob started his own company Collateral Advisors LLC which provides consulting services on a wide range of collateral valuation issues. Immediately prior to that Bob was Director, Property Valuation and Eligibility at Fannie Mae. He joined Fannie Mae in 2000 where his role as a subject matter expert aided in the development of collateral valuation policies which included automated valuation policies, appraisal report forms, while also being responsible for the implementation of special projects such as the Home Valuation Code of Conduct and its successor, Appraiser Independence Requirements. As Director, Bob was responsible for Fannie Mae’s collateral valuation and property eligibility policies which are communicated through the Selling Guide, Announcements and Lender Letters. Additional responsibilities included policies relating to the development, implementation, and training regarding the Uniform Appraisal Dataset, Uniform Collateral Data Portal, and Collateral Underwriter as well as other projects that involved collateral issues from both a practical and credit policy perspective, such as Appraiser Quality Monitoring. He also presented Fannie Mae’s collateral policies and positions to numerous industry participants and government agencies.

    Bob is a former residential designated member of the Appraisal Institute and instructor of USPAP and residential appraisal courses.

    Kevin Hopkins
    Director of Compliance - Nationwide Property & Appraisal Services
    Kevin Hopkins is the Director of Compliance for Nationwide Property & Appraisal Services, LLC. Kevin holds a BA from Salisbury University and a JD from Widener University School of Law. After graduating from law school, he returned to Salisbury University where he taught for several years and later served as Chief Compliance Officer for Clearbox and then Chief Compliance and Risk Officer for OrderProUSA.
