Avoid Hard Work: Natural Math Adventures

About This Webinar

Avoid Hard Work: Natural Math Adventures for the Young and the Young at Heart. Avoid Hard Work is the new book for teachers, math circle leaders, and parents. The book explores adventurous, unusual, and off-the-beaten-path mathematics via problem-solving. In the spirit of Natural Math, we took the ten powerful problem-solving techniques originally published by Mathematical Association of America for advanced high school students, and adapted them for children ages three to ten. That means the content is accessible and friendly, not only for children, but also for math-anxious adults or those who want a casual encounter with the subject. During the event, the participants will make powerful math ideas their own in hands-on and minds-on play, as they prepare to share the joy with their students. Presented by Maria Droujkova & Yelena McNaman.

Global Math Department webinar platform hosts Avoid Hard Work: Natural Math Adventures
The Global Math Department began as a group of teachers who knew each other through Twitter, math education blogs and Twitter Math Camp. Since 2012 The Global Math Department community has grown into a multi-faceted group of math educators who love to share their ideas related to teaching and learning mathematics. We recognize that as educators we are charged with promoting equity and access within mathematics instruction. In addition, we believe it is crucial that teachers be provided with quality resources and ideas that they can use immediately with their students. Lively and friendly conversations in our weekly webinars encourage all participants to share and continue to grow as educators.
