About This Webinar
This webinar session is customized for Gr 7-8 Alberta educators and will:
• demonstrate how to integrate First Nations, Métis and Inuit histories, cultures, and perspectives for Grades 7 to 8 learners in the literacy classroom
• explore a variety of literacy strategies and authentic texts that support Read Aloud, Shared Reading, Guided Reading, and Independent Reading
• develop knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis and Inuit education as addressed in the curriculum

Indigenous Educator and Consultant with Calgary Regional Consortium
Donna Ross is currently seconded with the Calgary Regional Consortium to provide Education for Reconciliation and Foundational Knowledge of Alberta’s First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. Donna is Métis and a proud Cree from the One Arrow First Nation. With 28 years’ experience as an Indigenous educator, Donna brings a strong understanding of literacy and storytelling from an Indigenous perspective.
