I completed a PhD in Molecular Genetics at the University of Minnesota in Dr. R. Scott McIvor's laboratory, and a postdoctoral fellowship in Experimental Hematology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Dr. Arthur Nienhuis's laboratory. My research program is focused on development of strategies to increase fetal hemoglobin (HbF) production in children or adults with sickle cell disease or severe β-thalassemia following lentiviral vector-mediated gene transfer into the patient’s own hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPC; CD34+ cells).
