Have Math in your path: applying mathematics to real life situations
We can never escape math. We use it in our everyday lives, whether we realize it or not. Apart from its obvious utility—like quickly crunching numbers at a bar—math also allows us to think critically and innovatively, make better decisions and communicate with ease. Applied mathematics reproduces real-life events using mathematical formulas. By dealing with reality in abstract terms, we are able to simplify aspects of our complex world to focus on the results we want to achieve. In this session we will introduce some of the most important uses of applied mathematics, stressing their impact in our daily life. We will introduce and solve some related challenges that will help the students to understand the subtleties behind mathematical thinking.
Please note that the participation at this class requires basic knowledge in:
- Trigonometry
- Derivatives
