This session will focus on the key element of a successful communicative activity when working with adults, and that is learner motivation. We will look at some activities that place a strong emphasis on learner agency and meaningful interaction – important in both motivating your adult students to speak and in achieving deeper learning. In the second part of the talk we will show how these key elements can also be applied in online classrooms by examining different engaging activities using breakout rooms.
