About
For industrial and commercial (C&I) consumers, a great return on investment is key. At a time when electricity prices continue to rapidly rise, commercial battery energy storage systems can deliver important utility bill savings to businesses. These storage systems should also be safe, easy to install, and highly flexible to scale.

In this pv magazine Spotlight, BYD will launch its Battery-Max Lite storage system. BYD is standing out from the crowd by opening its system up to inverters from different manufactures, allowing for a highly flexible combination of components resulting in higher efficiency values. Open communication and control interface features allow the battery’s management system to be integrated with different energy management control system units. The battery’s capacity of 30 to 90 kWh can be increased to 5.76 MWh by connecting up to 64 systems in parallel. Here the battery system provides C&I businesses with an opportunity to reduce their utility bills by maximizing self-consumption and profiting from peak shaving and time-of-use arbitrage.

Kuan Li, Product Manager for C&I BYD Battery-Box, will discuss the development of the Battery-Max Lite. The product builds on BYD’s extensive experience with the Battery-Box in the residential segment, as well as its cell-technology developments in electric vehicles. The system has a modular plug and play design, cobalt-free LFP battery chemistry, and BYD’s blade battery technology, present in over six hundred thousand new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the market in 2021 alone. Joining him in an extended format Q&A session to deliver further insights will be Julia Chen, Global Director; David Dai, Senior Expert Strategic Product Management; and Manuel Alcorta, Regional Sales Director Europe, for BYD Battery-Box.
