Dorette holds an undergraduate degree in American Studies and English from the University of Dundee, and a Master's degree in American Studies from the University of Glasgow. She is Research Coordinator at the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia, an outdoor living-history museum located in Staunton, VA. Her previous experience with digital projects includes publications as a collaborating editor at the Digital Yoknapatawpha project based at the University of Virginia. She also serves as a board member of the Blue Ridge Children’s Museum located in Waynesboro, VA.
