Introduction Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) was founded in 1998 by Dr NP Tolani, Varuna Award Winner and doyen of the modern Indian Shipping. Tolani Group is well known for establishing Tolani Shipping Company, exclusively operating bulk carriers since 1974. As part of his desire to promote quality maritime education in the country, Tolani Education Foundation, a charitable trust promoted by the Tolani family established TMI, which is dedicated to delivering high quality and continually improving maritime education and training to prepare budding seafarers for rewarding careers in shipping and allied industry. Over 7500 seafarers have been trained on campus since inception and are serving the industry with distinction.
The Campus TMI, Induri campus spread over 100 acres of scenic rural area of Pune near port city of Mumbai, offers residential undergraduate degree programs having over 1300 students at any time of the year.
Accreditations & Recognitions The degree programs are in collaboration with Indian Maritime University, a Central University.
TMI degree programs have recognition of Directorate General of Shipping, India, MPA, Singapore and MLIT, Japan.
TMI has been graded as Grade 1(Outstanding) by ClassNK in the CIP of DG Shipping, Govt. of India. The Institute has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification by IRS.
