Jas Rai

Jas Rai is head of people at the British Library and trustee at the Commonwork Trust.

Rai joined the library in August 2020 after six years with Sony as head of talent & development based at their headquarters in Japan.

Moving from a global tech company to a national public sector organisation with bases in two UK regions, Rai has a wealth of experience in all aspects of HR organisational development from talent management to strategic workforce planning plus learning and development strategy and implementation.

Continuing to support the British Library’s people through the practicalities of a global pandemic, Rai has also just launched the British Library’s new three year people strategy which will drive culture change and policy reform.

Angela Matthews
Head of policy and research, Business Disability Forum
Matthews joined Business Disability Forum (BDF) in 2013. She leads the policy and research team and specialises in UK work, health, and disability policy. She is an adviser to and research partner on several academic research projects related to health, disability inclusion, and inclusive employment.

She has been a HR specialist in disability and workplace adjustments, disability-related employee casework, equalities data management, and employee relations. She has also worked in dementia care services and occupational therapy in mental health and physical rehabilitation (NHS).

Matthews chairs the Disability Charities Consortium’s policy group, which brings together policy leads from nine UK disability charities. Outside of BDF, she is involved in various activities to support and improve the lives and care of people with phenylketonuria (PKU) and the people around them.

Neil Morrison
Group HR director, Severn Trent
Morrison is the director of HR for FTSE100 water company Severn Trent and has executive responsibility for all aspects of HR as well as the corporate communications, PR and marketing teams.

In his prior role, he was one of the leads in the global merger between Penguin and Random House, the largest merger in publishing history.

Morrison has served on the board of the CIPD, was one of the inaugural members of the Social Mobility Pledge and has advised and supported government on a number of policies and initiatives. He writes regularly about organisations leadership and change.
