To address this invisible reading process, many teachers introduce Reading Voice and Thinking Voice. However, naming these voices and modeling them a couple times is not enough. These voices are the foundation for teaching all comprehension skills from a surface retell to multi-text synthesis, from thinking about the text to thinking beyond the text.
