About This Webinar

After the death of a student by suicide, the most important goal for any school is the prevention of suicide contagion. Exposure to a suicide death increases the risk of suicide for all members of a school community. Topics in this webinar include the step-by-step process to use after a student’s suicide, steps for making death announcements to students and the school community, tips on support/counseling rooms, and strategies for appropriately managing memorials and the student’s desk, locker, and parking space. Steps and strategies to use when a student returns to school after a suicide attempt will also be covered.
