Matthew is chief executive of Embark Federation which is a trust of 7 schools across Derbyshire. He was designated a National Leader of Education in 2017 for the work he has done as a system leader. Matthew supported 9 schools across Derbyshire who are now all judged to be good or better by Ofsted. One of the core beliefs at Embark Federation is Family and Matthew is very keen to protect staff workload and their wellbeing. He is very proud that Embark was selected for a National Case Study about how the trust has created a positive culture for staff which has affected the recruitment and retention of staff making them an employer of choice.

Director of Education Services, Academies Enterprise Trust
Matthew Purves joined AET as Director of Education Services in April 2020. He has responsibility for curriculum, learning and development, recruitment and talent management across the trust.

Prior to AET, Matthew was Deputy Director for School Inspection at Ofsted, where he led the development and implementation of the Education Inspection Framework 2019. During his time at Ofsted he was also responsible for inspector training, the national administration of quality assurance and complaints, and led major projects to transform the way Ofsted inspects in early years, schools and further education and skills.

Matthew has also worked at the Department for Education, where he led the department's internal consultancy unit for education standards.

CEO, WISE Academies Multi Academy Trust
Zoe is employed as the Chief Executive Officer of WISE Academies Multi-Academy Trust in the North East of England. She has held this position since 2013. The Trust works predominantly in areas of high deprivation across three Local Authority Areas and currently consists of 12 academies who serve primary age pupils, one of which is a specialist provision for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. She has gained insight into all aspects of academy performance, accountability and operation through her role as CEO.

She qualified as a primary school teacher in 1995 and went on to become an Advanced Skills Teacher in 2002. This position afforded her the opportunity to demonstrate excellent teaching across the Local Authority in which she was employed. The last 16 years has been spent in school leadership. She gained NLE status in 2016 and was honoured in the 2018 New Year’s Honours list, where she received an OBE for Services to Education.

She has been an elected member of the Regional School Commissioner’s Head Teacher Board (HTB) for the North since 2014, serving two terms of office. She qualified as an Ofsted Inspector in 2017 and continues to serve in this role.
