About This Summit

IFW2020 is a platform for stakeholders, regulators, tech startups and the Islamic finance fraternity to come together to jumpstart the expansion of Islamic fintech.

The inaugural IFW is hosted by Malaysia, with the theme “Islamic Fintech Future. The week will feature a themed series of masterclasses, roundtable sessions and panel debates carefully curated to address local and global challenges and uplift humanity.

Meet The Speakers

    Tarik Akin
    Division Director | Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey
    Dr. Tarık Akın is a division director at Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. Previously, Dr. Tarık worked at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), World Bank, UNDP, Silatech, and Center for International Development (CID) at Harvard University. He was also an SC–OCIS Visiting Fellow in Islamic Finance at University of Oxford for the academic year 2019-2020.

    Dr. Tarık has earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Bilkent University, master’s degree from Harvard University and PhD. degree from INCEIF. His main research areas include Islamic capital markets, inequality and redistribution, macro-financial linkages, and SME finance.

    Dr Hurriyah El Islamy
    Executive Board Member - Foreign Investments & International Relations | BPKH Indonesia
    Dr Hurriyah El Islamy is the Best National and Global Islamic Finance Activist/Proponent Award Winner (Bank Indonesia 2018) who currently serves the Executive Board of Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji Indonesia (Presidential Decree 74/2017) and the IsDB’s APIF Supervisory Committee (23/06/2020).

    Recently awarded “Anugerah Tokoh Alumni” by IIUM, she is also FAA certified Assessor, IFN Advisory Board member, Shariah Board Member and Strategic Advisor of Islamic Fintech Alliance and was the Head of Professional Development in AAOIFI prior to which she served as AAOIFI Shariah Central Board Working Group member. Until recently, she was IMF expert in Islamic Finance and a member of the Islamic Finance Advisory Council of the AIFC.
