Como: the silk district. The heritage of the past century, innovation and design of the new millennium to be leader in the luxury market. An upcycling with the Master IED students: project “with Epson the fashion is sustainable”. Preloved garments in the circular economy and social age. Contamination. Fashion and interior design: wallpaper manufactures and the influence of the fashion brand.

During this lecture we will introduce how innovation should be linked to traditional techniques in order to create beautiful, experimental and contemporary printed textiles for fashion. Showing some of our Barcelona IED Fashion students and examples of designers using printed textiles, I aim to demonstrate the importance of the process in a creative environment and how an open investigation can be the key for brilliant future designers.

Fulvio Alvisi,owner of “Alvisi e Alvisi” with his sister Luciana, aninnovative textile design studio founded in 1973 specialized in fashion fabricsand wallpaper. The trends research is developing in seminars with the biggest fairs like Heimtextil Frankfurth, Eveteks Istanbul and Intertextile Shanghai.Since 2007 Fulvio Alvisi teach at IED Textile Design and is the coordinator ofthe first master “ Textiles: design, innovation, sustainability” in Accademia Galli IED Como, is visiting professor at HTBLVA fur TextileindustriesWien, President of the “Italian Textile Designer Association”, past Presidentof the Comocrea Consortium, “CLAB” Centro Legno Arredo Brianza. He was in the advisory board of TSC, Epson research center for textile, and Villa Erba fair, VicePresident of “Chamber of Commerce of Como” and in the board of CentroSerico Como, Univercomo and ITF Italian Textile Fashion, Italian national system for traceability

Professor
Graduated in Textile Design at L’ Ensaama, Paris and specialized in silk-screen printing at Central Saint Martins College, London, Julia works as a freelancer and flows from one discipline to another. She draws, silk screens on paper and textiles, makes art books and develops artistic interventions through workshops she designs for Museums, bookshops and cultural entities through out Europe. She has been working for AD, Planeta editions, the UPC, the Victoria y Albert museum or the Wallace Collection. Actually her clients are the Picasso Museum, the MNAC, the Miró Foundation or the online platform Domestika.In 2006, she created the international illustrated book festival “Como Pedro por mi casa”, an event dedicated entirely to illustrated and self-edited book and she is still developing exhibitions, workshops and pop-up events.She has been exercising her teaching vocation since 1995. She is currently responsible for the Fashion Textile Design course at IED Barcelona Fashion School and BA Honors Course Module Leader related to Westminster University.
